Teresa graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1988.   She graduated from Boston University School of Law in May 1994.  She was admitted to the California State Bar and to the Central District of the United States District Court in June 1995.

 

During her 20+ years of lawyering experience, Teresa served as a Judicial Law Clerk, in the United States Bankruptcy Court, Central District, for the Honorable Mitchel R. Goldberg from 1996 to 2007.  During this tenure, she gained extensive experience and knowledge in the area of Chapter 7, Chapter 13, and Chapter 11 bankruptcy.  Since leaving her clerkship position, Teresa continued with her bankruptcy practice but also has litigated commercial, business and real estate transactions, construction, employment law, and personal injury matters.

 

Teresa has assisted in various trials, arbitrations, and mediations.  She understands that some adversaries will only relent after a judge and jury resolves the case.  On the other hand she is very much aware of the financial stress and uncertainty litigation can cause clients.  As such, she advocates supporting settlement from a position of strength.

 

Her top-notch research skills provide her the ability to carefully review client practices and scrupulously advise on legal compliance.
